Applications & Substrates
Sikaflex®-295 UV is specially developed for the marine industry to bond and seal plastic glazing materials in vessels. Its excellent weatherability also supports joints in exposed areas. The following substrates are suitable, but always test adhesion on original substrates:
- Aluminum (bright or anodized)
- GRP (glass-reinforced polyester resin)
- Stainless steel
- Timber
- 2-component coatings
- Plastic glazing materials (PC, PMMA)
Note: This product is intended for experienced professional users. Tests with actual substrates and conditions should be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
Application & Curing
-
Cure mechanism: One-component polyurethane that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture.
-
Temperature range: Processable between 10 °C and 35 °C; optimum substrate and sealant temperature is 15 °C to 25 °C. Viscosity increases at lower temperatures.
-
Application method: Apply in a triangular bead to achieve a uniform bond thickness. Condition the adhesive to ambient temperature before use for easier application.
-
Tooling & finishing: Tool within the skin time; Sika® Tooling Agent N is recommended. Test other finishing agents for compatibility before use.
Removal & Clean-Up
-
Uncured material: Can be removed from tools with Sika® Remover-208 or an equivalent solvent.
-
Cured material: Can only be removed mechanically.
-
Skin/hand care: Use appropriate cleaning towels or cleaners if contact occurs.
For best results, follow the latest surface-preparation guidance and pre-treatment recommendations in the Sika documentation. Sikaflex®-295 UV delivers dependable bonding, professional finishes, and long-lasting performance in marine glazing and exterior sealing applications.
