When lightning is first detected (up to 25 miles), the detector flashes all 8 LEDs for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, it switches to blinking every other LED for the remainder of the detection period, with color-coded LEDs indicating the distance to the storm (green, blue, or red). This clear visual cue, combined with audible alerts, gives you time to take appropriate precautions and change course if needed.
