Description
Victron Orion-TR DC-DC Converter converts 48VDC to a clean, isolated 12VDC output with room to grow. It’s designed for reliability and expandability in demanding environments, from vehicles to vessels and off-grid installations. 
- Isolated, standalone design: Independent input and output (-) leads with a remote on/off terminal for low-current control, reducing high-current cockpit or cabinet wiring.
- Parallel operation: Connect an unlimited number of units in parallel to increase available output current as your system grows.
- Wide input range with protections: 40–70 V input with UVS 28 V and UVR 30 V protections to handle supply variations safely.
- Regulated 12.2 V output: Nominal 12.2 V with adjustable output from 10 to 15 V and a tolerance of ±0.2 V.
- Low noise and protection: Output noise of 2 mV rms; high-temperature protection with derating above 40°C to keep delivering power when it matters.
- Current and power specs: 30 A continuous current at nominal voltage and 25°C (40 A peak for 10 s); 60 A short-circuit current; 430 W at 25°C (360 W at 40°C).
- Efficiency: Typical efficiency of 87% for reliable performance in compact installations.
- Safety and isolation: 200 VDC galvanic isolation (input/output/case); EN 60950 safety compliance; Prop65 warning for certain chemicals used in manufacturing.
- Installation and wiring: Screw-terminal DC connection supporting up to 16 mm² (AWG 6) cables; compact dimensions 130 x 186 x 70 mm; weight 1.6 kg; IP43 protection when mounted with terminals oriented downward.
- Operating conditions: -20°C to +55°C operating range with 3% derating per °C above 40°C; up to 95% non-condensing humidity.
- Not for charging: Not intended for battery charging; for advanced charging needs consider the Orion-Tr Smart model.
The Orion-TR provides a stable, clean 12V supply from a higher voltage bus, while keeping input and output isolated to reduce wiring complexity and electrical noise. Its ability to parallel multiple units supports system growth without replacing power hardware. Remote on/off simplifies control wiring, and the wide input range with protections helps handle supply variations in vehicles, vessels, or off-grid installations. With 87% efficiency and low output noise, it minimizes heat and electrical interference in sensitive electronics.
